The text in the header and footer strips is hard to read. It reminds me of vista because of the header image, but despite that, the whole design is beautiful.

Thank you very much! It does look sorta like Vista, now that I think about it. But in my humble opinion, Vista looks nice.

I will add some more contrast there.

I'd try to give it more structure by adding a darker background and some thin lines ;)

I did, when I made the background darker, contrast was lost elsewhere. Do you have suggestions on how I could make the content area look less boring?

maybe give that a slighly darker color..
or have like a gradient backgrouns on it?
